You will be leading the Music department in an academy that has exceptionally high standards in everything it does. The academy’s ethos of respect permeates all aspects of the academy’s life and ensures inclusion.

Your role is an exciting one…to reignite the excitement around music. So many of the pupils play instruments and/or are involved in music in their own time. Your challenge is to bring this passion within the school gates and create an engaging curriculum that pupils want to be involved in. There is so much scope for you to grow the department, with areas of the school still to be developed, the opportunity for you to physically extend the music department is there. The principal envisages huge school choirs and large band performances to really showcase the talents of its pupils and for the school to be known for this.

With the strong curriculum you deliver, each child will develop performance skills, listening skills, composition skills and communication Skills. From National Anthems to singing ‘Happy Birthday’, Christmas carols to football terrace songs, music shapes our world and is literally the soundtrack to our lives. In Music lessons, your students are exposed to a wide range of music from different cultures and traditions, enabling them to understand the world around them better.

Attainment and progress of all your students is well above national average, supported by outstanding teaching across the school. You can make lessons dynamic and inspirational to imaginatively engage with pupils whose attitudes to learning are excellent; they want to be the best they can be. You will know your students well to set high expectations and challenge them.

The sharing of good practice drives improvement in teaching and learning, as does the carefully tailored approach to the professional development of every member of staff, which is highly valued by your colleagues. They are proud to be part of the academy and dedicated to what is best for students.

The behaviour of your students is outstanding. Their positive attitudes to learning, mutual respect, cooperation and mature attitudes powerfully support effective learning in lessons. This enables you to teach uninterrupted and engage fully with your pupils.

The academy is based in Solihull and is recruiting a permanent Music Subject Lead Teacher (QTS) to join its expanding department from January 2024 (or sooner). You will be teaching Music to KS3 and KS4 pupils and inspiring them to exceed their target grades. You will be transforming the schools offering in this area, with full support of the Principal and senior leaders, a truly exciting role for a Music teacher with a passion for their subject.
