Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant looking for a full-time role in a welcoming Preston primary school? Do you enjoy supporting children's learning and helping them reach their full potential?

We are recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic KS1 Teaching Assistant to join a supportive primary school in Preston from October 2026. This is a full-time position working across Key Stage 1, providing general classroom support and assisting pupils with their learning and development.

As a KS1 Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the class teacher with day-to-day classroom activities.
  • Providing general classroom support across Key Stage 1.
  • Working with small groups and individual pupils to reinforce learning.
  • Assisting with phonics, literacy and numeracy activities.
  • Managing classroom resources and helping to create an engaging learning environment.
  • Supporting children with varying learning needs and abilities.
  • Providing additional support to pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) where required.

While the role is primarily focused on general classroom support, there are several pupils across KS1 who require additional support. Therefore, previous experience supporting children with SEN, or confidence in working with pupils who require extra assistance, would be highly desirable.

  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant or Classroom Assistant.
  • Experience supporting children within a primary school setting.
  • Understanding of the KS1 curriculum.
  • A positive, patient and proactive approach.
  • Comfortable supporting children with SEN.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Competitive pay rate of £14.25 per hour.
