Teaching Personnel is currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant to join one of our specialist partner schools in Ashington.

You will be supporting children and young people with a range of complex needs, including Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), and associated communication and sensory needs.

Working alongside teachers and support staff, you will help create a positive and engaging learning environment tailored to each pupil's individual needs. This role may involve supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis, in small groups, and with personal care where required.

  • Provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs
  • Support learning activities both in and out of the classroom
  • Encourage engagement, independence, and confidence
  • Assist with communication and sensory-based activities
  • Follow EHCPs and individual support plans
  • Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour strategies
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff
  • Passionate about supporting children and young people with SEND
  • Calm, patient, and resilient
  • Experience working with SEN is desirable but not essential
  • Able to build positive relationships and act as a role model
  • Flexible, proactive, and able to work as part of a team
  • Committed to making a difference in pupils' lives
  • Willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS certificate (or already hold one on the Update Service)
  • Able to provide two professional references
